I know it is important to keep an eye on costs but if you have a contractor who comes when you want him & does a good job then the benefit of making high quality forage will be far greater than grumbling over a few £ an acre. IMO

I know there is a thread on the cropping section. but for a mainly grass / livestock / slurry farm how are folks tackling this. Can you do most yourself & get it signed off by a FACTS qualified bod Paper system / spread sheet/ computer prog ?

Good idea of @borderterribles . Try & find someone local who will help you. Presenting them & handling them in the ring is an artform that takes time to learn. Heifers of that size would be best handled by a teenager. Looks best if the size of the animal matches the size of the handler.
