Farmers are feeding people at discounted prices. Rewilders are producing ?? This is the disconnect that is the UK today people don’t actually understand that farmers produce food and that supermarkets sell that food, the vast majority think it begins and ends with the supermarkets.

I think people do understand where food comes from but they don't worry about it. It's cheap and plentiful.

No farmer would voluntarily give up land for rewilding or anything else if there was good money to be made from farming it. It seems that poor returns are the main driver of this.

I don't accept that people turning farmland over to nature are doing it for money. The returns, if any will almost guaranteed to be lower.

6000 acres but I’m not sure how many acres are involved in the rewilding.

I could show you a 7000 acer farm re wilded , they didnt do it for fun ….££££ and another 3 acre place , its all done for money dont kid yourself .

Most of the waste happens in our homes too.
Which I didn’t believe until I became a dad. Toddlers are first class food wasters

Certainly a lot of waste at home and some people are more wasteful than others, but there is a lot of waste all down the chain, from processing losses, food safety concerns, (use by dates) transport issues and just the fact that we tend to produce too much so if there is a problem, like a cyclone writing off crops we have a plan B and don't starve. Don't get the cyclone then you potentially have an excess.
Better that way than running out though.
