How are the hedges going to be a pension fund?
Ok.. give the gov.uk control of your hedges!! I really dont care... or think about it carefully? What can a hedge deliver that your fields can't.. i treat my hedges as a pension fund.. others are grubbing them out before the law stops them...

I have applied, offered and accepted an agreement for sfi with a start date of 1st June. Having just read an article in the FG I am concerned about the 25% limit. Does the limit apply individually to alh2, alh3 and igl1 or as a total of all 3.

Total of all 3 or all 6 if you chose those options. Did you really apply for SFI without knowing the answer to that question? Brave...😊
Has anyone worked out the profit margin on that 25% of land without BPS and still with fixed overheads on the other 75% of your holding?
Answers on a postcard please but it has to be pennies not pounds?
Variable costs work out ok but fixed costs annually of running a farm business dont look great unless you have over 500 hectares and contract farming agreement

The upside of SFI is that most farmers were making no profit before BPS from break crops and as the scheme is designed around " income forgone" it wont really matter if there is no profit from those 6 temporary "rewilding" options limited to 25% of farm area..

I have an agreement with a start date of 1st Jan 2024, so not yet affected by the 25% limit. I am already over 25% on IGL2 but will I be able to add another field for the remaining 2 years of the agreement?

I don't believe you will be able to add fields in a new SFI under the same SBI if it takes you over the cap - (otherwise it makes a mockery of having a cap?), but I saw something the other day to suggest RPA haven't decided yet what will happen in situations where people with pre-cap agreements want to 'upgrade' their options at their first or second anniversary dates.
