Your all over thinking this

Every tractor has a 10 inch touchscreen with a web browser built in to it like Safari.

Every implement has web server in it, serving up a touch friendly website that can be viewed on browser in tractor. Mobile website can be as simple or as fancy as you like.

Hook up to implement, 'search' on tractor screen for correct implements wifi, connect.

No barriers to entry, unlimited interface / control options, proven technology, 100% compatibility. Simples.

Something for Agricamera to diversify into maybe?

The technology and off the shelf hardware is there already, sorely tempted to convert an existing implement just to prove a point however.

Anyone played with a Raspberry Pi? Any other web developers / software guys on here? Open source project I am thinking??

Great concept. (y)

All I need here is some kind of signal to make that happen.

No need - the wifi signal is given out by the implement and picked up by the screen in the cab. No need for any external networks, completely self contained.

It could be an Ethernet cable if you prefer between tractor and implement.

When this does inevitably happen it will not come from the tractor manufacturers but more likely the machinery makers as seen with vaderstad and bale bandit already, they are they ones with a commercial reason to make their machine easy compatible with cheap control systems you already have so they can compete with the tractor manufacturers option which works with that expensive terminal you already own
Margin and tie-in. That is the real reason prime mover makers will be loathe to move away from a proprietary solution. Their hand will be forced though.

The plain fact is that users are paying several thousand pounds for an ISO V/terminal which is about 10-12 years behind the times, interface wise. They just won't be able to keep doing this as owners/drivers are not idiots and don't live in a bubble.

Why would anyone want anything made by apple in control of a bit of kit is beyond me. The stuff they make is lucky to get to a year old before it starts to play up big style and why would any manufacturer make it easy to one controller for many machines the mark up is huge. Mind you i seem to recall the problems several on here have had with class yield monitors etc..

It's not about apple - iPads is just an example of a cheap consumer interface - what we are saying is any device able to use a browser is all that needed, a phone with big enough screen could do the job

Back in February at the SIMA show there was a company that did this. A sprayer if I remember correctly, I posted a pic on here. A small box that the isobus plugged into, made it wireless, then ipad picked the signal up. Fairly sure it was a web browser thing but could be wrong. I'll see if I can find it. Definitely better than the rubbish screens manufacturers fob us off with now though.

...and given the £70 tablet spotted in the the "Computers and IT" forum on here, it could become a very low cost alternative!

Hi I should have this device launched sometime in the new year as you say the technology is there we are just working on the software to do the different functions needed one of these being a ISObus VT

Should be good. Can you reveal any more details?

Are you aware that Claas are also developing an ISObus VT app for tablets, they won some sort of (vapourware) award at SIMA 2013 for the privilege :)

My only concern is that it needs to be made sure from day one.... Who is responsible should it fail. Nothing worse than middle of drilling and implement manufactures are blaming screen manufactures and vise versa...
Something simple but worth considering.
