Yea first auctioneer did go bust (V king I think) . Then Bse hit and j.j morris just gave up on it
I remember V King Thomas [I think they were] going under and leaving a lot of money owing to farmers.
Where is all the stock that used to go through these marts. JJ Morris might just as well give up on Cardigan mart as well, the way things are going.
Perhaps the new Carmarthen mart is taking everything?

Not the sheep anyway. In Carmarthen every thursday lucky if there are 4/5 pens of sheeps. Shame really as there is pens for 100's if not 1000's :(

Hampton was a cracking little Saturday morning market ,run by Jones ,s from Wrexham , Dad used too let us take calves and the odd bullock ,with the tractor and trailer ,they had an old wooden rail carriage as an office and a fair few(Me included even though I would only be 16/17) used to pile in the New inn for a butty and an afternoon of slowly getting bladdered and watching the racing on telly ,happy days
That photo must be quite rare and from near the end of its time as you can just make out the roundabout getting built

Here are a couple of photo's from markets long gone from around here that I used to go to as a boy
Bath had a small market on a Wednesday every week in Walcot street that is now a hotel with multi storey car park underneath.
Chippenham was one of the biggest one day markets in its day that is now houses.
Gloucester market was also a big one, but not sure what's on the site now
