Alternative to landline broadband

Apologies if this has been covered, don't have the will or the data to search. We've always had crap broadband with BT and now sky 0.5mb seems to be the norm:( but this week we've had nothing, and due to being pretty busy and(although not rocket science) I'm the only one who understands filters, master sockets etc. So just wasted 3/4 of an hour (I'M NOT RACIST) speaking to someone where English isn't their 1st language, trying to diagnose the problem. We are thinking due to the astronomical price and poor service cancelling altogether.
Are any of you getting internet from a 3G type dongle? How do you find it? What about usage limits( I get close to 1gb limit p/m on mobile plus use landline a fair bit)?
So would one 5gb be enough, sis and me moderate-high and mum would be light usage?

Sorry for all the questions, only done a quick search on phone looking at packages.

That sounds good!! We're only 3 miles from the city centre but it's still rubbish.
We get good 3g at home so that's a start. How do they work like a normal router that puts out a wifi signal so multiple users/appliances can connect?

Thanks Lee

I have Wifi 3G and 4 G hubs
Cost £15 with vat for 15g month, they are good as long as you have signal, they don't like thick walls so you may have to move them about or get two,a booster helps with this

yes but your talking to the wrong man you need my son

He recommends a three mobile broadband dongle as they are quite fast but he says to get a pay and go version first to check the coverage. @General-Lee

Don't think it's unlimited. That's the phone contract is in not, the wifi hub Is 15g/month
The contract comes with unlimited data for the phone and tethering but I believe three are/have stopped unlimited tethering and only allow a couple of GB per month on tethering ONLY.

I am on unlimited data on my phone with Three, they don't allow tethering unless you pay £25/month.
In my house I often get poor service from the broadband, at those times I revert to Three in a dongle or mifi. Costs about £15 for 5gig, don't know of cheaper.

the only way i got reliable broadband from BT was to ring up the disconnection depertment, said was canceling due to such poor service, funny how speaking to somebody who speaks the same laungauge, even in the same country gets progress

It is extremely frustrating having to try to converse with someone called George who is obviously in India, has no grasp of what this country is like and does not speak English as a first language. I was wondering what would happen if you insisted on speaking in Welsh (not that I speak Welsh but nor are they very good at English)
This isn't racism, this is just a damned stupid system!

Maybe I'm wrong but nothing can be improved whether it's BT or sky as it's all done down the same phone line?:scratchead:

Waiting for them to do the line test but think we're gonna cancel anyway and probably go down the mifi route.
