Never say never.
Had a 525-58 loadall go up in 2004, started it and drove it out of the straw bedded livestock shed while on fire (some kind of fecking hero)! Insurance paid out on value of £8k, less my £100 excess.
Bought it back for £800, new looms and hyd pipes at ripoffs (£2k) (while we had a stock part ex machine as replacement - edit- for 3 months!!!!).
Still running it now as second loadall, but no longer insured for fire. Still insured for £8k

I remember hearing about that. Had similar many years ago with a yard full of Renault Dauphines at Southampton docks that they couldn't shift. After a bit they started to rust, and were scrapped, but I think that they sent the engines and transmissions back to France.
Surely they'll save some of the mechanical parts on these?

Those things started to go rusty the minute they came off the production line.

Yep you'r dead right, have a look at this video. Personally it makes me sick to see them trashing perfectly good cars, but even worse going to the trouble of drilling holes the tyres. Then they ask us to recycle and reuse things.

Testing each car to make sure it was totally unaffected by the list would take all of the margin out of each sale, as well as age each car. Oh I know why thy did it, but you would have thought items like tyres could have been reused or sold on.

Accountability and legality. Had a few similar situations (albeit on a FAR smaller scale) when I worked at the Jag/Mazda/Volvo garage. Some customers would have the factory tyre replaced with those of their choice but the removed tyres had to be disposed of. Madness!
