Used to see them regularly when digging rhubarb but haven't seen one for a long time, up until yesterday when there was a pretty big one in my poly tunnel.

We get them in the house. Most days this time of year. Nearly always the lounge.

Nasty little buggers, they raise their tail up like a scorpion when you approach them, but a massive belt with a slipper quells them a bit. Barley The WonderDog doesn’t like them because they try and wriggle their way into her fur if she’s stretched out having a sleep.

I saw one outside once wrestling with a massive earthworm. It was an epic battle, but the beetle won. Before long the worm was lifeless.

Funnily enough, I saw one a few days ago in the single track lane that runs through our hamlet. Giving it a nudge or two with my walking stick, I encouraged it to go to the roadside.

Seen them in the house for the first time this year. Assume they eat all the other insects, so they're quite welcome to patrol the house at night.

They stab you and then wrestle you to the ground before spraying venomous snot at you, blinding you so that, in the confusion, they can drag you into their lair and jam you under a rock.

They really are quite unpleasant.

went to take seed to the drill along side a wood today, the air was full of ladybirds arms and hair covered. within half a hour of being drilled the ground was a sheen of spider web's in the sunshine, it's been a funny old year!
