Crunch the numbers, if 20k die from the virus in the next 3 months as the experts claim that means a death rate of 220 people a day from the virus.

If 250k die as is suggested that is a daily average death rate of 2500 people every day for the next 3 months.

Clear both figures are a complete nonsense and death rates wont be anywhere near as high as the experts are claiming.
How are you so sure that these figures are wrong?

Couple of interesting points from Canada and the US. Not sure if it's the right thread but expect its of interest.

Weekly kill: Grids slide 20-50c/kg as coronavirus concerns escalate
Jon Condon, March 17, 2020
UNCERTAINTY over the impact that coronavirus will have on international meat demand is contributing to a dramatic 20-30c/kg decline on Queensland direct consignment grid offers this week, and up to 50c/kg in parts of NSW.

Often wonder how many tff members are getting back handers off abbatoir to talk the job down on here. Look at recent rates IN the UK. Food finally will have to be appreciated and paid for properly. I can assure you killing plants will find a way to re open. Plenty of people being laid off other jobs will take any job going!

Harbinger of doom. How long can it last people demand to be fed

Will backfire badly in the long term once this is all over with the virus if the plants try to cut the beef price lower than the low price it already is as plenty of cattle farmers have been fed up with the low prime price for months anyway and if it did go lower im not sure many of them will stay with cattle.

Esp as for example a local AD plant is offering £30/ £35t for clamp silage delivered into their yard.

Shelves are empty of meat/ eggs etc, trade should only go one way and that is upwards.

If anyone has ewes to go I would strongly recommend getting them away, not only are the prices sky high but if we have abattoir/mart closures, the opportunities to sell them will be very limited, unlike lamb and beef.

Dealers and the abattoirs will shaft you truly. Been there, done that during foot and mouth. Ewes are currently working out dearer then prime hoggs over the abattoir scales. I have no motive :)
