Bicycle gears

Sorry about this, but one of the sprogs is desperate to drive our latest acquisition ( the DB) on our bit land and is offering to bike up there.
But having dragged his bike out of the shed, finds though the pedals work, the gears work, but there is no drive to the actual back wheel? Any Dads, uncles, engineers etc on here have any ideas?
On another note, what's the old Bills general take on having a bairn travelling in a tractor?

It's illegal for anyone under 13 to travel on a tractor, and there must be a correct passenger seat with belt.

A child fell out of a cab last year in Ireland, was run over and killed. There's a crack down over there.

The bike will be the over run in the rear wheel groupset, from lack of use by the sound of it. If you're unable to take the wheel off, disassemble and inspect the bearing, then I'd suggest a trip to halfords, or preferably a decent local independent bike shop, and get them to repair it.

Sounds like the ratchet in the rear sprocket has given up, maybe rusted solid? You'll need a proper tool to get it off the wheel. Try an independent bike shop, Halfrauds will rip you off.
