Fair calf,
quite a long gestation for a blue and quite a heavy calf, From that I would be carful what I used that bull on

Our average gestation this year is longer. His heifer calf from bluexcharx was born at 53kg. Expected a smaller calf from a lim cow, but have a hunch that her sire was myostatin carrier and it never ends well when two myostatin carriers meet.

I wouldnt want a calf born with that much muscling round the backend

Not a good shape for calving, that's for sure. Cow stayed standing for the whole delivery. Calf got stuck on hips too. Luckily everything endes well, but wouldn't want to repeat such delivery. Wasn't expecting such size calf to be fair.

Another bluex heifer was born here yesterday. This time sired by Newman du blanc dos. 288 days gestation.
