Seems like someone has dobbed you boys n girls in to go to war with russia...seems odd this has come out in news? Given they are not on polish boarder.

Does the usa politics play a role in this? No doubt lead actors are factoring in a trump win now....so what must be done between now and November?

I find this unusual news....is this so usa ground forces can be justified?

Is this a welcome/useful distraction to the war on farmers?? Do they get farmer kids to go to war so land is more easlily aquired in future.

My feeling is this was a directed towards the population to put the govt under pressure and get their act together rather than actually telling us there's going to need to be a draft, although that's still not impossible.

2 years since the invasion of ukraine and what has this Government done about bolstering defences? As I can see it absolutely nothing. There is no other words for it they are incompetent in the extreme. They are eliminating food production in the UK while relying on imports of everything that we simply cannot defend if war breaks out as we have no navy left.

I think there would be major riots in the UK if teens of University age were “told” they would “have to”join one of the armed forces for a short time.
I think they would use every modern day excuse not to join, “it will effect my mental health”, it’s my human right not to be forced to join, I am a pacifist, etc,etc.

If the media was to be believe then half of the youth were cracking up because they couldn't hug granny during lockdown! Heaven help us if we have a war

Look at this issue another way,Why oh why would Vlad want anything to do with the UK ? An overcrowded island of the coast of europe,bankrupt,gold reserves sold of by G.Brown esq.We cannot currently defend ourselves from unarmed dingies,so want chance of them getting bothered about the civilian defence force ?

Look at this issue another way,Why oh why would Vlad want anything to do with the UK ? An overcrowded island of the coast of europe,bankrupt,gold reserves sold of by G.Brown esq.We cannot currently defend ourselves from unarmed dingies,so want chance of them getting bothered about the civilian defence force ?

I doubt we even have enough equipment to kit out the regular army for an extended deployment abroad. Far less tens or hundreds of thousands of conscripts.

If ukraine falls then it's not inconceivable that putin will have a go at the baltic States in a few years. That will draw us in. I don't think we would be invaded at all, but we could be targeted by missile strikes, drones and shipping attacked by submarines.

We aren't being targeted because we aren't currently at war. However if we were involved with a war in Eastern Europe then we are a legitimate target for strikes.

Troops aren't going into Ukraine and there is no evidence that Putin would ever attack NATO. So how is Britain going to be at war?
America has weakened one of it's biggest enemies and taught Europe a lesson over relying on Russian energy. Ukraine might lose a bit of its ground but that doesn't affect America or the UK.

Putin hates that the soviet union collapsed and would love nothing more than it to be restored. That's unlikely I admit, and I don't think we are going to see an operation barbarossa style invasion of Eastern Europe on a 2000 mile front. More likely we would start seeing trouble in the baltic states by some poor russians who are suddenly being oppressed, very much like what happened in the donbas since 2014. Once he has engineered a pretext, its not impossible for "little green men" to turn up or indeed a limited invasion to "rescue" these poor russian souls.

At that point we would be at war
