Ring sales, will always get through to a British person that way! Its just wrong on every level! But once you get them on the line, dont give them a chance not to help sort the issue. Sadly 50% of the time when they run out of ideas they just hang up on you to avoid the problem!

Totally agree! When listening to a list of press 1 for this, 2 for this, I just wait for "press x for Accounts". Any company always wants to take money, so they always pick up. Never fails, and they're pretty good at finding the extension of the person you actually need to speak to 👍

An email to any company’s CEO always gets immediate results. I speak from experience.
Same experience. Fudged around going back and forward with their customer services, one email to the CEO (cc'ed to the chairman) and within an hour I had the CEO team on the phone. I had daily updates over the Easter weekend that it happened until it was all sorted.

Emailing the CEO generally works with most companies. Over the years I have spoken to the CEO support team from T-Mobile, NPower, Openreach, Toolstation, Wickes, B&Q, Dunelm.

The only time that it hasn't worked is with M&S and BA. Of which I immediately sold my shares in the companies. If the CEO of a company can't be arsed to deal with customers, it is likely that is the culture of the company.

I have spent many unhappy hours in the past talking to a BT call centre in India. The worst time was when they said they could not help me as I wasn't a customer. They did not recognise my name address, phone number or account number ! I said that every month money went from my bank to their bank, if they had no record of this then fraud must be taking place. I asked the call centre operator for his home address, this seemed to take him back. The British police were very hot on fraud as probably were the Indian police, questions would need to be asked, possibly at his home ?. We had watched Slumdog Millionaire the previous week. I got transferred to a superior and then his superior very quickly. They somehow found my account details (you are very old and esteemed customer ,sir) Our broadband speed went up and our tariff came down, they actually admitted we were getting a poor service.
The last time I renewed my contract I had 3 different quotations within a couple of hours varying by around £20, they can only quote what appears on the screen apparently, so if you get a quote of say £25 before lunch and say you will think about it, after lunch the price has risen to £45.
A right bunch of cowboys.

I really don't understand why so many people continue to use BT for their comms? Plenty of alternatives about.

The levels of "service" that so many report, would drive me to beer... maybe even to actually drink that foul tasting Guinness stuff advocated by @serf...!

Communication companies are simply the worst communicators!!! I could write 6 pages about a recent fault repair that took all of 2 minutes for the right engineers in the right place…. Whilst BT and Open reach are now separated at least their systems do talk to each other, try getting any fault resolved by talktalk 🤦‍♂️

Along with energy companies, I dread changing contracts as there's always problems. The youngsters in the call centres seem devoid of accountability or responsibility. Work ethics seem to be disappearing in this World of entitled employees.
