Chusel plow / Ripper for tight dirt?

Hi all, i have atarted discing first paddock on my new farm, it has bener been plowed before, lik as in ever, been cattle for 100 years, and tge top 6" is a solid root matt like a pot plant.

Using hevy 28 plate offsets, and then my 28 disc harrow.

It throws the heavy set of discs around. I think i need a set of ripprs or chisel plow first to try tear the root matt apart, disc does not seem best for first n second pass?

Its heavy loam dirt, i only need to rip 200mm deep max.

Anyone else use shallo rippers or chisel plow like link? I can get muh heavier or lighter here in oz, plenty of choice. Cost is a factor.

We use one for ripping up cereal stubbles but even in that, it can block it if there's a lot of trash on the surface. You certainly wouldn't want to use one straight into the type of grassland you describe - it will just drag the root mass along into big lumps rather than pulling it apart.

If it was over here, I think I'd be looking to take a crop of Kale off it first.
Help to break up the root mat and give it time to decompose before sowing the grass next year.

thick root mass here in old ground
done it a few ways
spray and drill for first year can be hit and miss at times 2nd time works better

chisel plow and work it down is ok but some chisel plows bit useless tends to roll it up into a ball you dont want a boiling action if that makes sense more a turning ripping action

discs can chop it up but run the risk of having alot of roots on the top and powder soils turn to dust
some discs work better than others as well and need to be set up right or just leave long strips of turf used to tow 3 railway irons behind like bar harrows fulled in holes burned some stuff chain harrows can work the roots to the top

if only have a chisel plow (not a sub soiler like a yeoman agriplow ) and discs chisel plow it say 3 inch deep then 6 inch deep then break down with discs. till yer got a rough seed bed tosss seed on for a grazing crop then rework it the 2nd year

my pick for thick old turf is a chisel plow 1 pass then a power harrow dont let it have much time between rip and power harrow it drys out too much then sow it down in like oats kale rape etc for the first year let time break old roots down if left flat and not pugged over wither cn just spray and direct drill other years
will be a huge N lock up while breaking down so will need some N applied
