GPS signal isn't the hard bit. First you need a Claas card reader installed. I'm guessing the new combines use a different card reader than the older ones but without that you'll get nowhere. Does it have a card reader?
No it does not have a card reader, they are trying to get me to use telematics, but I don't really want to go down that route if I can help it. Do you know if I need a Claas card reader or will maplins do?
The card readers, is so you can download the information from the combine, then you are able to upload it to our computer so you can do yield mapping. As long as you have some sort of GPS receiver you can provide the GPS signal to the CEBIS.
We have just recently fitted LEICA auto steer system to our new Lexion 770TT, and is totally integrated.
If there is no card reader in the combine, either in the ceis head unit of infront of the printer, this would be the first step, dependant on the serial number of the combine there are 2 options exchange printer for printer/card reader or exchange cebis head unit, both the same price. Second yield mapping unlock code for cebis before you even think about feeding it a gps signal from the RS232 port, dependant on age, CLAAS Agromap software to prepare and read the cards or Gatekeeper for new lexions. If it's a new lexion forget what i have just said as everything works through CAN and requires the correct modules on the combine. As far as Leica is concerned this rule does not apply to European spec machines as the protocols are all locked down. Telematics would work via gatekeeper on the newer machines with task monitoring, on the older machines you can only export .aft files which come across as 24hrs worth of information therefore could contain multiple fields and not easy to split.
As a further option, it is possible to 'piggyback' an RDS Ceres 8000i on to the system and make use of the Claas (grain volume, moisture, angle) sensors etc but use the Ceres for datalogging yield maps if you do not have the option for the Claas datalogging add on's.
