look, manufacturers need to be visible in the press so need to chase "a new pig" through the press. Best example is Horsch with their single disc DD drill, which is following the same basic design than a JD 750, but much better and according to M.H. a total new design.
My prediction is: "as long as farmers are looking for a mechanical solution = changing colours of machinery frequently, they will in the big majority of cases not solve their challenges. All the new "toys" are more or less bandages, some are better some or bigger, like a doctor is using. Does a doctor work on the organ of your problem? Look at the causes of diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.
Same on TFF, when you point to the cause the discussion either stops or is diverted to a other aspect.

If you actually know what the answers are then why not post them in a clear and legible style? As it is, given that you constantly allude to the fact that you have the answers and no one else does, we can only assume you know no more than anyone else.

You need private medical insurance, Dr York is not available on the NHS.

Perhaps English isn't his first language? European languages do generally have a more rigid structure than English which doesn't always directly translate across.

Or he's just wired differently from the rest of us. :)

Are you saying buying machinery is treating the symptoms rather that than cause?

Clive,
in other words this means: I'm on TFF to fish for clients?
Just to share development of the last 10 years. Years ago I was active also on German forums. This stopped & is finished on all forums, some for quite a long time, others just recently. Looking at the development of business I only can say: it didn't hurt at all, to say the least.;):censored:
My conclusion is right now that taking part is not per see contributing to turnover growth. :)
Furthermore even in my daily work I'm not presenting "solutions" to people than offering conclusions which they can test for themselves if they are working. Because my goal is that the other side is understanding & in 5 years time I can talk with them about topics we rather don't know right now how to spell them.
Why I'm at TFF is that so far the only one forum where I feel that the "segmenting" & barking down a other persons thoughts is not that dominant. furthermore I like to keep practising my English & stay in touch with as many regions as possible on our globe. to some of the TFF members a deep friendship has developed for which I'm very grateful.
So keep on the communication

I don't think for a moment your fishing for clients York

All I'm saying is that knowledge and good advice is rarely free and it's unreasonable of some member here to expect that from you

I don't know Clive plenty of people give good agricultural advice for free. Why come on a farming forum just to talk in riddles and not make good points well made? Its not rocket science.

I don't think anyone is asking for lengthy consultancy, the art of communication is surely that you want people to be able to understand what it is your saying. It's why people like Richard Fortey or Richard Dawkins can explain complex things so lucidly to the rest of us.

Free advice is worth what you pay for it IMO ! Mags full of free advice (packed with agenda to sell you something ). Look what a mess that's got uk AG into !

If advice is how you made your living would you give it away ?

We don't give our wheat away so why would York cheapen his advce to nothing ?

Having met York in the past I don't think there is intention from York to talk in riddles - just a language barrier

So the free advice from all farmers to each other on here isn't worth as much as paid advice?

From my experience, I have huge respect of York's "style" of posting, in fact it lead to me investigating and implementing CULTAN which in turn has increased our fertiliser efficiency dramatically.
York's "style" encouraged me to find out for myself the science behind the system, which is far better than just being told.

as farmers we don't make our living selling advice though - if i did and I depended upon it's value to pay my bills you would certainly hear a lot less detail from me that's for sure

Fair point. You may not want to share such info but it would be interesting to hear how much in terms of cost per kg N per kg grain you are increasing your efficiency by. I expect its quite measurable and significant.

I've also increased my fertiliser efficiency the past few years. I've used more Urea which has been getting cheaper and yields happen to have been pretty good for the past three summers which has increased roi.
