Cutting gas bottle, welding cast!

Sanitary trap on very old vacuum tanker plastic rot.
Unlikely to find replacement.
Thought weld gas bottle onto cast ring to make new bucket.
How many times to wash out gas bottle before cutting?
Tips for welding ring to bottle.
Might or stick?

TIA

I made a number of ‘gas-bottle’ stoves many years ago.
Once I had unscrewed the brass nozzle and filled it with water a number of times I felt safe to cut it with the angle grinder.

I can and have welded cast-cast and obviously steel-steel but never cast-steel.
I would suggest brazing steel-cast as IMO this would be much easier, IF you have oxy-acetylene that is.
Or drill & bolt.

I have herd washup liquid in the water helps get rid of the gas after I stuck the water hose in a cylinder letting the water run, left it full over night, tipped it and filled again and it still gave a little flash when i put the welder to it. Be careful.

Fill it to the top and cut the top off that way.

Nickle stick welding rod works. "Nomacast" if you can get it is cheaper. 308 SS stick welding rods work good also. Weld it in a few spots, just enough to hold it together, then use silicone or epoxy to seal it.

The dimensions of the bucket, @organicguy.
OD: 34cm
H:33cm
OD of rim: 19.5cm

Word of warning, if you cut up a gas bottle for a chimenea etc make sure you grind any identifying marks off it. I was told by a Calor gas man that if they can identify one of their bottles that has been butchered they charge you the full price of replacement, which is not cheap. You only hire the bottles.
