Is that video real time as those nuffields seem to be traveling at a fair pace.
I dunno, someone had put it on the Nuffield/Leyland forum, and I remembered this thread..
Haven't watched it all yet but it's a whole new perspective on a familiar job, with the 50yr old cab-less tractors, the trailed combines, the tiny rows of straw, and those side-tipping trailers, which must be great for rape

I was thinking that too, and 4 x 60hp engines compared to a modern 24ft one's 350-400hp?
It would just be the 4 x operators to find, and pay..
But having watched it, and seeing e.g. the chaff coming out the back, I would think that yes that would be the actual speed

but then if say a fan belt snaps you still have 75% of capacity going , thats if you can find the drivers

It probably is real speed, because you have either a 5 or 6 ft. cut going through a 4ft. drum, compared to 25/30 ft. on a modern combine who's drum may not be much wider . My 950 is the same drum, shakers etc. as those machines, but it puts 8.5 ft through, so you have to drive her slower than the trailed version. Good to see an outfit like that at work, and the trailers look to be a chaser type wagon.

OK so I have to admit to an impulse buy! One Dania D600 combine, from Ireland.
Want to get it going for our local country fair.
Everything works great, except no feed belt.
Does anyone have a part number, the belt company would much rather work from that rather than my measurements!
I am after a manual if anyone has one or could photocopy some pages.
I aim to put pics up when going, maybe the wife will start talking to me again sometime in the future! Actually to be fair she hasn't been too bad about it!

Its a dirty dusty job driving the 950, but there is something very satisfying about combining, and I like doing it. Although she isn't that fast, I'm not standing waiting on a contractor, watching all the good days pass, to have him arrive early in the morning or late at night. I can cut 5-6 acres per day with no problem, and give the old girl plenty of time to put it in the tank, not on the ground. If there is no panic you can also do 3-4 acres in the middle of the day while the crop is at its driest. Having a combine of your own to me is a win win situation.
PS. your also right about it never sitting out, not even through a shower.(y)
what very wise words of wisdom, 6 ft or 10 ft going around a ripe crop is better than promises, we have several old combines, we cut over 100 acres most years, our few customers always want us back, we take pride in the job pride in owning the machinery, and yet one neighbour insists he wouldn't have 30/40 yr old machinery in his crops, preferring to wait for contractor who I would assume puts his 34 acres in low priority with his acre eating machine and operator who will probably moan it's in 4 fields and 4 table detachments, well everyone is nearly Finished here and his crop looks like bloody hard work now, hope he reads this!! But he probably won't, to busy setting up the dryer and leaving messages on answer machines!! Bless him.

Well here it is flying round a field of spring oats.
Planted for cattle to graze but good grass year.
