claydon hybrid, only the third year I have drilled spring cereals as always believed our ground was too heavy to do it without it drying out too much after cultivation, having listened to those who know more than me I now just wait till its dry on top and the soil is warming. So far the crops I have done in the last three springs have given better margins than the winter sown ones, just too scared to leave all till spring as sure one day I will get caught out, but the cost savings and better weed control make it very temptingLooks great. Not grown that variety before but @warksfarmer does a fair bit and he says it doesnt tiller well and higher seed rates give him better yields so would try it, time will tell I guessWhy such a high seeding rate

As an update to what I did with my DDing 2nd wheat, here are pictures over the last 6 weeks. Hadn`t thought that it could become like that when I drilled it !
Still too warm here, the wheat my neighbour drilled 5th september is as high as my wellies are !

That looks as good as the photo you posted in the "Blackgrass" thread. It does look good though.EFA temporary grass fallow. @Great In Grass supplied seed. Straight into long wheat stubbles with straw chopped. Rolled once this spring. No fert.
