Farm shop in shipping containers

very much doubt i would get away with that, it’s very much in a ramblers area and very much over looked by surrounded walking routes
A low pitched roof painted camouflage green is not that intrusive & tends to disguise a container, if it's still movable it's not that different to a movable cattle shelter that you don't need planning permission for, maybe place a couple of what look like skids underneath.

Whilst on the subject, where I intend to site this, there was a part of ungrown hedgerow which opens onto a lay by. We ripped the slight bit of hedge out 4 years ago and have used it for occasional access. Where would this stand with access?

Yes it just needs a second roof over the top with an air gap and a bit of wood cladding to make it look nice.

Shipping container with vending machines?

hi Rob, hope you are well

I am going to do the background work and going to offer my sister to do the day to day running of the shop.

few vending machines round here doing well but I would never be able to afford the amount to keep up with demand maybe

Portacabin will be far better than a shipping container. Proper doors, Insulated & electric installed
Did you see the bit on Clarkson where he was bottling water in a shipping container & the temp was circa 45 degrees
Greater flexibility with size.
Customer of ours hired 2 portacabins for 12 months to create a farm shop. To see if it was a goer.
It wasn`t so the cabins went back & he went on to another project

yes did that part. Will look into the porta cabin option.

Not a valid link?

would push it a bit more than just leaving trade to pick their own

not enough honest people round here 😂

They have tried and abandoned 7, 6, 5, 4 days a week opening with attended service. Too tying for the available passing trade. Best is the veg boxes to an affluent area the opposite side of Leeds which involves 90 to 120 minutes each way traveling and is still done. The honesty box which needs opening up using a forklift has not suffered damage 😳🤣

Has anyone done it? Classed as a temporary structure how do you stand regarding planning? Have a piece of land next to a busy road which could be optimised with no other farm shops in the area.

I’m not sure it would be classed as a temporary structure.

Portakabins are the same. It’s whether you intend to remove them that matters, not what they are made from.

Would be fine for farm storage, but think you’d need planning for a shop. Can’t see you’d have trouble getting it though.

yes quite possibly, was just thinking it’s more in keeping with the surroundings. Can be built into a bank.

problem is, we no longer have planning officers….. council cut backs…. Have to put in a full planning application:mad:
If there’s no planning officer who’s going to stop you
