Got 100 lambs all about 42-44kgs just need a bit more finish to go to market. So I've put creep feeders in with them and got them going ad lib on lamb finishing nuts.

Never done it before, so simple question......

How much should they eat a day each do you reckon?

Cheers

(They have silage/haylage as well)

From memory a hundred lambs will eat approx 1 ton of pellets per week. That's with just straw for bedding/roughage with no other fodder.

I Am No expert but once there going on corn I would cut out the silage/haylage and put straw as fodder been told wheat straw is best but I use barley straw as its what I already have

I find once they've got going on them and are really motoring, they'll eat 2kg plus. But they will do like stink once eating that sort of quantity and need picking every week.
Yours being almost there might not get up to that sort of quantity.

^this. 2kg a day if on 'hogget' nuts and no other forage. Week one they will stand still. Weeks two and three you will see them alter as you stand and watch them.(y)

Thanks for the replies, that's given me a good idea. They seem to be up to about 1kg a day at the moment and standing still, so will check them again next week, fingers crossed.

If they aren't gaining weight cut out the forage and give them just pellets and straw. (y)

Thanks, will do. They are taking a lot less haylage, that's really noticeable, but maybe there's some that are and some that aren't, so as soon as the ring feeders are empty I'll top up with some clean wheat straw I've got.
