First milk

Competition commission would stop it, combined, that would be a huge proportion of UK cheese making under one business. Possibly they wouldn't like one third of UK dairy farms together either.
More to the point, why would ARLA want a failing coop, with average processing?

Well , it was a first milk supplier who told me the story .....

What should make your blood boil is how sh!t First Milk are .
It does, it does.
I suppose, there could be a deal to offload producers in the balancing pool which are clearly not wanted by FM any more, but since that milk is swapped, there would be an issue with the milk that goes from ARLA producers to FM, ie where would that milk come from if it wasn't swapped?

Letter from FM yesterday saying in Feb our haulage would be dealt with by arla at Leeds instead of Lloyd Frazer. Strange because round here LF pick up Arla milk. ??

arla transport at leeds are looking to take on another 30-40 drivers and will be picking up arla milk and by the sound of it fm milk right up to your part of the world

Think a case of time will tell but I know arla have bought more farm collection tankers and are recruiting.will be interesting to see how they cope with running it all to leeds with these tankers and not using reloaded artics

She's not the only one to be taken in. :(
AFAIK, Pilgrims Choice used be from North Down dairy in Wincanton, Somerset. A local cheese, along with Davidstowe and Cath.City.
Adams bought the brand and now it may be British cheese, it may not. Slick marketing.
Bit like the con of Anchor still being from NZ

Hence where the rumour that FM is being bought by Arla.

Further the the FM directors getting 35k a year, thats over and above the average profit of a member or a tanker driver or a factory worker for what 12 days work a year?

Will they not still use reload tankers? Long way from the northeast to Aylesbury in a 8 wheeler with 8,000lts less on board.

They are going to have to use some reloads we drag a lot of reloads into leeds but also a lot to Aylesbury ,Hatfield Peverel and oak Thorpe in london they are planning putting more through leeds but I don't know how as the silos are always full

Arla have taken on there own haulage in N.Derbyshire from Lloyd Fraser and are also picking up First milk farmers that. Were previously picked up with the same Lloyd Fraser tankers . Supposedly no reload milk locally, all been taken to Arlas burton transport depot before going in to arctics.

Wouldn't be so far fetched to see Arla take the second half of Westbury and perhaps some of the closest producers that go into it. The entire going concern would seem unlikely though. Best hope for FM members is that the co-op splits up and just keep fingers crossed that you aren't the unsustainable ones left at the end IMO.

Long way from Co-op principle, but FM seem to have lost that path a long time ago.
