Our flock of Lleyn and Lleyn crosses will be dispersed at Ludlow Market on Friday 25th Sept (selling starts at 11:00 but don't when ours will go through yet). There should be 439 in total, ranging from 5 years through to 103 maiden yearlings. Catalogues will be available from Ludlow Market nearer the time.

295 Pure Lleyns made up of:
90 x 2014 maiden yearlings
62 x 2013
27 x 2012
37 x 2011
79 x 2010

131 Charolais X Lleyn (pure to pure 50/50 first crosses):
35 x 2013
80 x 2012
16 x 2011

Also:
13 x Other Lleyn cross maiden yearlings (mostly ¾ Lleyn, ¼ Texel)

Background

We started our flock 10 years ago with 120 pedigree Lleyn yearlings from 2 breeders. Since then we have been a closed flock (except for tups) breeding our own replacements until 2 years ago when we changed to buying in replacements from one particular Lleyn breeder. All ewes are in the Heptavac P system. We have our problems as with all sheep, but I can genuinely say this is a healthy, clean flock. We are only giving up breeding for personal reasons.

Most crosses are 50% Charolais (all sires from @neilo) and 50% pure ex-pedigree Lleyn. There is also a small number of ¾ Lleyn crosses, mostly ¼ Texel.

Here's a pic of some shearlings taken a few years back, just to give you an idea of what our Lleyn's look like. I'll add some more up-to-date pics (including crosses) when I can.

Note the 90 yearlings were bought in as ewe lambs and were Footvaxed by the original breeder but I have not maintained the programme as we have not had any footrot and have just culled the odd one that show signs of it. So these cannot ever be injected with Cydectin 1% as I understand it.

PS. I am on holiday till 17 Sept so may not reply or update till then

Sale is still on for this Friday at Ludlow. Figures have changed but only by a few. Pulled out 3 of the 2010's that weren't putting condition on like they should at the moment.

Forgot to say all are grass/forage only. No feed used except for twins and triples at lambing.

All on Heptavac P+, wormed and Crovected just for good measure. All had an MOT; teeth, udders etc.

How the sale go @Clive Tee ?

Very well I'd say. No shortage of buyers, shearlings up to £149 (I think, not had report yet). Even 5 year olds went for pretty good prices, £74 was lowest I heard. Hope people are pleased with them as I have truly culled everything out of them over the years. Had no intention of dispersal just yet, feel a bit gutted but now buying in ewe-lambs to bring on to sell as shearlings next year fingers-crossed. Got my first today, pure Lleyns again, stick with what I know best plan I reckon.

Many thanks to any buyers on here.
