This autumn, Farm for the Future run by The Royal Countryside Fund is offering farming families free support, guidance and advice on business and environmental management.
Farm for the Future has had really impressive results since it first took place in 2021 – for example, 95% of participating farms have increased confidence in their ability to plan for the future, and 84% feel as though they understand their farm business more having taken part.
On completing the programme, Laura, a farmer from Staffordshire commented: “It is quite isolating on the farm – so it made us feel a part of the farming community.”
Amy, who took part in Farm for the Future in Derbyshire, said of the programme: “We’ve gained new knowledge and feel able to adapt our business for the future, and it’s given us confidence in the business decisions we’re making.”
As well as the in-person groups in 18 regions across England, there is a virtual group allowing farmers to access support within their own home.
Further information on the programme, including where it is taking place in 2023/24, can be found at www.royalcountrysidefund.org.uk/farmforthefuture
