I'm looking to store around 100 ton of feed wheat for the year, so I was thinking of an outdoor silo. Is this a good idea or are they the work of the devil?
They are not very versatile is my thought, and it is auger in/out which is a pain.
How do they price against a small building, which would at least be useful if have a divine inspiration and sell at top of market for November one year and do not need long storage.
Small shed all the way......
You won't get vermin in a silo either. We used to have simplex silo at homeI'll end up filling it with cows. At least I can't do that with a silo
A silo seems like a much cheaper option if I can find one secondhand, and I can add another one if needed, rather than having to build a bigger building now to future proof
Have you got anyone that could take it down @Clive ?
How much clive? It's down, on pallets, labeled up and ready to transport / rebuild
Cheers Clive,£500
Could be collected on a trailer behind 4x4 etc
God loves a tryerSmall shed all the way......
Cheers Clive,
I'll have a ponder.
Someone would then have some exercise shovelling it out.just a thought that might help - its 50t with the hopper bottom in it, you could remove the hopper bottom and gain another 20t capacity if you prefered
I have got an almost new one in the shed dismantled if you want to pm me.A silo seems like a much cheaper option if I can find one secondhand, and I can add another one if needed, rather than having to build a bigger building now to future proof
