has anyone got a mig/tig combi??

I am looking at buying a new welder to go with my engine welder and I am thinking of a mig/tig combi ...I am sure that someone here has or used one of these machines … I have put this on the welding forum as the more feedback I get the better.... is it possible for this type of machine to work ok from an ordinary 13 amp plug
thanks in advance

I've got one of these R-tech combi welders as a play thing, it'll run on a standard 13 amp supply up to around 150 amps if I remember correctly, after that it starts popping fuses for fun. My only gripe is that it only takes hobby sized wire reels, which is a pain as I use 15kg reels in my main mig machine. It's a pretty good Tig machine though, and I actually prefer it to my dedicated Tig welder (also R-Tech).

It’s my understanding that the electrics that power Mig and Tig plants are quite different in nature, with Tig using a constant current system and Mig using a constant voltage system. Basic arc/stick welders also use constant current, hence most Tig plants also have connections for old school arc cables.

Modern electronic welders (especially inverter types) are often capable of providing AC/DC constant current or voltage. First time I saw a modern multi process machine I was all up for burning it at the stake for witchcraft, but then I was seduced by the idea of only needing the one machine ...

Thing to look for is that it's a proper tig with the ability to tweak the welding parameters.
