Wondering if anyone has actually tried harvesting linseed with a stripper header without dessicating it?
Thoughts are the pods will ripen naturally anyway, the straw isn't going through or being cut, might as well let it ripen and see just how well it does if not killed off.
Happy to leave it till the end of August and if it's not looking like it will ripen off then roundup and strip mid September.
Thoughts?
Experiences please.

We did some for @Banana Bar last year and I think it went reasonably well although did stop the header a few times

Yes, stripped mine two years ago with no descant. no problem at all. No way it would have worked last year but with this years early, dry and hot harvest, it is what I am doing again. Mine is a seed crop this year so should be perfect.

Perfect.
Then I will definitely be hanging on then.
Save a shed load of glyphosate.

It was the only way we could harvest the cropm I was thankful there was a stripper so close. I think the driver would of shot me, @ajd132 or himself ( or all of us ) if I had said there was an extra 40 ha to do. It only wrapped a few times but when it did, it was bad.

I hope the fact mine is true zero till will mean it won't pull it up.

Always surprising how much gets pulled up and goes through the combine. If it's not a bright sunny day, I still get wrapping round the header auger so just go home.

Yes done thousands of ha’s the combines would go out around end of august and come back end of January
If its pulling out of ground the rotor is not going fast enough and we also remove the steel fingers covers if the going got bad .
Some time we would harvest through the night.
This was in late 80s / through 90’s went they first came out.

Son in Montana been stripping flax but now using conventional header as we're losing too much , quite a relaxed job chasing 2 combine with 40 ton chaser. 320 acres filled 2 trucks so far ,9700 acres of it left to cut rather a large farm. 200000 acres farmed there

Crazy times indeed. Its not a competition but i did mine on 25th July. Undessicated. Unbelievable really. Oh yes and cut it at night. And it drizzled. No joke.
