Hay rumen impaction treatment?

Vet gave steer steriod dex, side affect is increased appetite, gorged himself on hay now has hay stuck in rumen.

They gave 10l of a brew to induce bloat to try get moving, hasnt worked, 500g of coffee also as laxative.

Caecal dilation was diagnosis, heart rate fibe so not torsion.

Have off feed but hes alo not hungry.

Belly is huge, crap is runny, not much solids.

Managed to get his temp right and hes not to stirred up just need to clear his gut somehow?

Belching like a champion

Did get bottle jaw but havent nailed diagnosis on that, maybe lack of protein due to stomach issues. Has gone down.

Thoughts?

Steers edema swelling in jaw and brisket is now gone. Since this pic this morni g its all disappeared tonight.

Poop has gone from watery to more of a slimy with slight solids, dark in colour.

Steer is alot more happy and exercised well today, i believe it has some abdominal pain due to teeth grinding on occasion.

Weight is hovering around expected full weight so now trying to get the normal food load to pass.

Finding information is hard work, i am going to ask vet in morning if they will do a tube drain on rumen, it has softened up a heap now, most of gas gone.

Im assuming there is no hard blocking with feaces passing.

The right hand side has gone down, just left hand still looks large for steer size.

I am assuming i need to get rumen to empty out (hay) and start again with fresh grass and see how he handles that?

The fact that he was belching a lot tells me his ruman is working overtime trying to process all the hay!
Sounds like he's on the mend?👍
Im hoping this is the case, nownit appears that we have the rumen solids suspended im hoping its starting to process.

Also has dark dirrahoea which is a worry, can be a few causes, has hard darker poop for about 2 weeks, but normal behaviour etc.

Will also ask about coccidiosis as it also fits the bill plus liver disease.

Mini pooped a heap over noght more solids so now has more normal looking gut size, he has assumed abdominal pain with teeth grinding however was alot more comfortable to sit and finally get some decent rest.

Ive been picking some clover to feed, just small amounts and thats keeping rumen churning and getting some good old power pooping going on...so hopefully pulling alot of old rumen material through.

Had vet out for check up, pinging on caecal area is getting duller indicating caecal not gas filled but has more water and solids.

Behaviour wise hes quite good, ive spent around 500 hrs with him so know what hes like if happy.

Did find very small blood particles in some poop but extremely minute amounts...sent to vet for comment.

From what i can gather most atuff gets a bullet or turned back to paddock and if lives the data of the recovery is never captured. So vets have little knowledge of recovery process.
