Husqvana chainsaws any good?

Im in the market for a new saw, stihl is off the cards due to terrible starting and i wont waste money on them again.

Husky saws any good, need midsize like stihl 290 farm boss. No battery stuff.

I dont do much but needs to be able to do a job.

I think you are unlucky to have a bad performing Stihl but those two are the market leaders for a good reason

My little saw is a Stihl, and the big one is an old Husky.
Both good saws, but my next one will probably be a Makita, going by my experience with their strimmer I've had for four years.

The 455 rancher i think would be about same as the 290 farmboss, which is now laying beside a tree outside upside down, ive never been happy with the starting, i bought a husky blower because i never believed stihl salesman about starting.

I have a sthil pole saw which is good starter, and whippersnipper with reduction drive, terrible starter.

The 455 might be a bit big, something a bit lighter would be welcome, 24" be abput biggest tree id cut, most work is sub 12 inch.

Can you lay the 455 on its side or hang it upside down for a while then still start it?

Most stuff starts sitting flat but fuel and oil requires saw on side, plus the usual bouncing around in trailer etc, thats when the stihl is a knuckle breaker, no dealer has been able to fix it.

Sorry above post for you.

Is the 455 the rancher model?

Ant...
Yes ,55cc ,handy size ,15 -20 inch
Decomp button and fuel primer .
Theres an easy way to start any 2stroke.
Everybody normally just gives it choke ,then pull pull pull untill it fires .
Instead ,give it choke but pull the cord very slowly ,that draws the fuel through faster and makes starting much easier

Much of a muchness in all honesty and I think you've been unlucky with Stihl. I've got a Stihl 462 which is a doddle to start and spends it's life hanging vertically from a hook. I've also got a bunch of other Stihl stuff (hedgecutter, leefblower and 2x strimmers). All start with boring regularity regardless of hot, cold, bounded around on quad etc and none are particularly well looked after!

I've also got a Husky 550XP which is a complete pain to start at times. Generally fine from cold but sometimes when hot it will not start. Tried everything.

By chance I did that the other day as I had a sore shoulder, works an absolute treat!
