Are you sure about the Insyst - so sign on Certis label online or on CRD EAMU?

Hi, as I said query everything I post!! I just happened to attend a meeting couple of weeks ago where an agronomist told us in the audience not to worry as Incyst would be available for sugar beet. Said it was similar to Biscaya. I did make a few notes in my diary. Just checked and deciphered my scrawled handwriting and have written Emergency Approval. So racking my brain I think he must have said it would hopefully be available subject to an Emergency Approval in similar fashion to Biscaya last year? But again do not take anything I say for gospel. Does that make sense?

Very helpful, I expect AHDB are working on it. Certis are good at supporting EAMUs

I have to say that looking at the industry at large I can't see it ever stacks up in the face of cheaper imported cane sugar anyway. With one company controlling the price it is a monopoly and should never be allowed.
The European beet price has been there abouts the world price for some time. The big problem with the world price is countries like Brazil drastically expanding production when ever the price gets any where near reasonable.
they drastically expanded their production capacity , when the petrol price was high as they were making ethanol on a grand scale . This industry collapses from time to time and the sugar is dumped on the world market.
currently with many growers achieving well over 100 tonnes per ha, they are making good money.

I’ve read in a magazine in last week or two about South American growers getting 200ton ha plus due to ideal growing conditions and putting up to a metre of water on the crop too.with massive fields and lots of sun they can’t really loose.they had a sole trader owning all the factories so a similar situation to uk in that respect.

Are you sure South America @nick... I was unaware of beet grown there as most of those countries have cane industries. However Argentina and Chile would certainly have suitable conditions.
The North Americans certainly do have very big yields and plenty of water, which is normally applied by flood irrigation. They have had a terrible harvest this year with many growers abandoning big acreages as Autumn was very wet and then early frosts destroyed the crop.
of course their harvesting methods using lorries on the fields can’t help. Poor farmers have contracts though which means, if they dont deliver they are hit with a double whammy since they get fined.
in Dakota they store a lot of beet on farms by freezing and delivering to the factory frozen. Do it by in clamping big tents and pumping very cold air under the clamp

Now that desmedipham has gone or atleast gone for those of us who forgot to order it in time :;whistle.
What is everyone doing, is anyone trying anything different like some of the goltix/quinmerec mixes etc.

Max pro was such a good product and the sum was greater than the parts. I keep weighting up weather is worth mixing my own equivalent minus the desmedipham but the components seem to low dose to do any good. Has anyone got any ideas on particular products which have better formulations which would be closer to maxpro.

Ordered my des stuff so letting others find out for me this year but expecting to use phen, eth, bitta goltix plus oil as my mainstays. Need to investigate venzar as a straight.

It all used to be so simple pyrimin pre em if desired then 0.75lt/ha maxpro +goltix and a sniff of oil if brave then 1-1.25 maxpro plus goltix plus a good slug of oil then if required a tidy up with something like sniper/rifle + venzar and oil and jobs a good'un.

I'm thinking this time .75 phen, o.15 etho and 0.055 venzar to give roughly a maxpro equivalent plus goltix and oil. The venzar seems ridiculously low but that amount of Ai worked in maxpro.
