Don’t do a lot of recording just fert really and was hoping for an app, till then pen and paper.
Is there a cheaper alternative would be nice to keep things tidy, less creased etc?

Failing that may make something a4 or clipboard sized to store and rest on.

Stick to paper. All these systems are gathering information on what you are doing so they can then price their wares accordingly!

Take the new JD Connect system being offered to JD customers with the idea being they load their entire cropping info (seed, fert, sprays etc) into the cloud. Then the JD combine yield maps and hey presto they’ve got your cropping gross margin. At the same time Connect has monitored every single hour your tractor has done, where, when, fuel used etc.

Suddenly JD have a very good idea of your cropping profitability and with some clever accounting (freedom of info with subsidies thrown in) could predict your ‘farming’ profit/loss account. They then know whether your an owner/renter/contract farmer because that’s relatively easy to find out.

So then that tractor you desperately need to buy suddenly goes up by 20% just because you can afford it! You can’t go to a dealer out of area because that’s not allowed and because you’re a ‘deereoid’ you won’t buy a different colour. Pants down.

It’s not just JD by the way. There all at it one way or another.

As for not being allowed to look at your info on the cloud they own due to various rules just look a week ago where by Facebook did just that to 50 million people and possibly altered an election.

The best negotiating tool is not being afraid to change brands imo

I know I’ve used JD as an example but it’s not just them I’m afraid. Gatekeeper another. Claas are trying it and so on ......

Why should JD want to know what you’ve paid for your fertiliser or herbicides! It’s only going one way and that’s another shaft of the farmer.

You can buy an A4 clipboard with a hard cover. Some have an elastic bungee to keep it shut. At least technology can’t interfere with this method.

Met a neighbour this morning who wasn’t exactly enamoured with technology after his drill wouldn’t work due to the tractor mother board goosed. Tractor and drill only a year old. Both redundant until fixed apparently.:poop:
