John Deere 6100 tractor

Hi All,

Have recently purchased a john deere 6100 tractor with grass tyres and wheels.
I am looking for some agricultural tyres and wheels to fit this machine. If anyone knows of a full set for sale or the best place to purchase could they please advise? Any advice on the best tyre/wheel size combination for max stability and speed would be much appreciated.

Also not familiar with this model what would be the the maximum size/weight trailer this tractor could pull/hold onto down the hills?

Is it possible to adjust the injection pumps on these models to get some extra power?

Thanks TT

The JD 6100 is the same size tractor to the 6400. but has if I remember a 4.5ltr unturbocharged engine,of some 75 hp? Think the 6100,6200 were often fited with 34" back wheels rather than 38" .Tyres of up to 18.4x38 and 16.9 x24 can be fitted to these tractors .The diameter of the lift arm cylinders varied according to the models,so yours will have the lowest lift capacity. Think you'll find 75hp through the power quad gearbox a bit lacking ,but these models pull well and handle weight great for a smallish tractor, I haul a 2250 gal slurry tanker with my 6400.

Should have added, try Nick Young for wheels and advice.

Thanks, do you know if it's possible to increase the power of the 6100?

Back in the day's that they were new, I'm prety shure that some were fitted with aftermarket turbos, from the likes of TB turbo etc, think most of these company's have gone ,as almost all newer engines are built turbocharged. Wouldn't take a lot of engineering to fit a turbo on her, something like a perkins 4.4 ltr westgated turbo would probably work well, is your engine fitted with an oil cooler ? things to watch, but anythings possible.

61 and 64 are the same engine just a 61 has no turbo. 62 and 63 are a different engine.
6400's food for 110hp (pto)
Max tyre size is 18.4 r38 in the book, but apparently if you trim/remove/widen the black arch extensions or put 20mm plate spacers under the cab mounts 20.8r38 fit and enable 52k action [emoji16]

sure someone said a wee while ago that the 6100 had a 3.8l engine, could be wrong but im only saying as I thought they all had 4.5l engines from the 6100-6400
Can any one confirm if the 6100 had a 4.5l or 3.8l surley if it's a 4.5l there is room for a bit of pump tweaking even if it's left n/a?

4.5 ltr none turbo? I'm guessing that over 85 hp and she 'll smoke like a train, Where as my 6400, was putting out 129 hp on the pto max. just by turning the sealed screw on top of the fuel pump. I'm getting stuff together to turbocharge a 75 hp Renault , found a brand new perkins turbo off ebay, for little money, need bits for the oil cooling and turbo oil supply. Easy way is to look for a turbo and exhaust manifold from a breakers.

Would you not get a turbo and stuff off a breaker there have been tons of these engines in 00/10/20 series might be something you via bolt on

Does the pump have an inspection plate on the side of the pump?.

If so the pump timing will need adjusting for more power. Its not easy but its not hard. You will need to be pretty methodical in marking the original timing and how far you adjust it. Usually these machines had a 4039 and you say it has a 4045.... So it looks to have had a repower at some stage so maybe the pump is different from what I describe?.

Pics of the pump possible????

Synchro or p/quad?

Advertisement: we have a set of Quicke brackets and cables/joystick off a 6100, that've been sat here gathering dust for a decade. Anyone interested, let me know.

Hi, please find the photo of the LUCAS CAV injector pump. If you could explain the timing procedure it would be much appreciated

Yeah they are a bit fiddly and you will need to concentrate when you are adjusting it. Ill find instructions somewhere online as its not hard but you dont want to get it wrong.

That link has pictures of the pump and the adjustment. Its the best I could find....
