Agreed, the percentage of most people’s income that goes on food is tiny compared to say 30 years ago.
Farmers have got left far far behind in terms of income,in fact it hasn’t really changed much in those 30 years, yet look at our costs.
A new 16t silage trailer is around £30k now,in the 90s it would have been under £10k,tractors have gone up even more, albeit with much more technology on board.
We are doing well to even survive given all this.

Not had a single Deere product purchased by my business in its farming history ever strange weve managed to exsist eh.

Same here. JD are on a (short) list of manufacturers that we actively avoid, because their pricing model values their worth to my farm at considerably more than I do. But we've managed to get along with many other colours and retain more profit than we otherwise might have done...

OK, a good many tool and ag machinery shops will have a vapormatic account some more prominently displayed than others. Anything from a fuse to a short motor for most tractor colours.
If you want the storeman to get you competitive prices for an item then you would hope that they include vapormatic for a price comparison.
However recently heard the local area rep has been applying pressure to account holders. If you sell x amount a month it now has to be x + 5% before you qualify for a discount with monthly increases. Might have always been the way but smells a bit of JD marketing.

They're going to end up losing a lot of customers if they keep going the way they are with dealerships. Its all push push push to get bigger sell more etc, just isnt going to end well.

They do occur on here from time to time.....;)
Question is....Would a good farmer who could afford a JD be daft enough to waste all that money....?:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Im not sure, I struggle to see where the benefit in terms of a bottom line is going to come from by owning the swish tractor. Not much difference in running costs (apart from the JD probably costing more if anything) so its really just down to people wanting fancy toys... Having said that I am vain and so would quite like a fendt...
