Land Rover price drops

Some LR models are on the price plunge it seems. A friend works for the local LR dealership and he was telling me at the weekend that Velars are finished. He’s just given £35k for a 18k mile top spec version that’s on a 21 plate. Brand new it was £65k as he sold it to the guy. Brand new RR’s are now under list price where as 12 months ago they were well over list price. DIsco sports out of warranty they don’t really want. There’s a steady market for used Disco 5’s even though it’s being discontinued. They’ve a waiting list for good spec evoques. Any defenders are selling well still though and the new RR Sport is very sort after.

Unfortunately now feeling the effects of high prices jacked up by Covid/ukraine. All these cars sold for 20% over list due to lack of supply now coming back through arnt worth 20% more still as the supply has caught up, coupled with the ‘financial crisis’ meaning new car sales are down means there’s a surplus of new vehicles so the older ones are really not worth all that much.
LR’s track record with reliability also plays a part.

Whole Used car trade is in disarray, at present

Plus the ease of stealing some RR's is not help their values, as they are uninsurable in some areas of UK

Biggest problem landrover had is cancelled orders, unlike other manufacturers they didn't stand on deals made and hiked the prices when the cars arrived, between interest rate rises and failing to honour deals many have told them to get stuffed, look on auto trader, loads of new in stock RR sports, Discovery's etc,12 MTHS ago there were none!

Can’t get a Range Rover insured in London very easily. I’ve heard of 12 month quotes exceeding £10,000 just for insurance. Also know somebody who had a gun pulled on him in Birmingham because he was about to get into a 23 plate RR. Police traced it and recovered it within a few hours.

LR are offering their own insurance now though. https://www.landrover.co.uk/insurance.html

Any prices not honoured are an individual dealer issue. Not a manufacturer issue

This is more of a dealer issue than JLR them self, I had a heated conversation with our salesman about this very thing on the wife’s RRS but eventually he did back down after some too and fro, I’d imagine it was more luck than judgement but we have dealt with him for 20+ years between us all as a family having over 30 brand new LR products in that time from him.

They tried to hike the price on a deal you had already done?!

Had my solicitor look over contract and they said we didn't have a leg to stand on,in the small print they can change price if they feel like it pretty much.
Sounds like you got unlucky; or I got lucky! I did enough shouting and throwing a tantrum that they honoured the original price after some back and forward counter offers.

Were needing an extra £18k from me,dirty barstewards, should probably have made more of it at the time but as said our t & C's we got allowed them to change the price.
