@Mum after 15 pages of advice your now probably more confused than when you started. Have you and your son got any thoughts?

god we got through 15 pages fast , what about them McCormick mtx or what ever thay are called the ones that are like a case 5140 or should i get my coat

From a reputable dealer I hope? There are one or two round here that are best avoided.

Try to sort out some other machines to look at en route or by return.
Probably obvious but have you included the VAT element in estimates?

@Mum I would look at a JD 6600/6610 our 6610 is on 5500hrs no tls but I prob value it at 13-14k and its tidy. Just needed a water pump 2 hour job £150 good old buses bit of electrics on linkage but still able to spanner on them if you have a bit of knowledge also maybe get a MF6270 in your price range used to drive one with 12000hrs on it couldn't pull skin of rice pudding but never was too much bother and simple to work on! Been a good read on this thread plenty of good opinions and no slanging for a change hope you find the right machine!

They just be above budget i would say,think first ones were year 2002.. might get one in auction thoe..

Id rather a 390 highline 2wd on the scraper..

That would be so so so wrong to take a 390 near the cow poo. Or any other massey for that matter. Scraper is a job for a davy brown

My mtx135 done over 6000hrs now, brakes,and few little things but thats it..neighbours got an mtx120 with other 8000hrs on and never touched it..

Only trouble with 1390 on scraper is you can't be changing gear while lifting the scraper. There is a 990 here n it's one of the best scraper tractors I have used
