@Mum after 15 pages of advice your now probably more confused than when you started. Have you and your son got any thoughts?

He better get sorted soon - because I'm fed up with trawling the Internet.
He's seen something in Yorkshire :rolleyes: and wants to travel alllllll that way to have a look. Does my head in xxx

he needs a passport to go there and know how to get back out

From a reputable dealer I hope? There are one or two round here that are best avoided.
 
@Mum I would look at a JD 6600/6610 our 6610 is on 5500hrs no tls but I prob value it at 13-14k and its tidy. Just needed a water pump 2 hour job £150 good old buses bit of electrics on linkage but still able to spanner on them if you have a bit of knowledge also maybe get a MF6270 in your price range used to drive one with 12000hrs on it couldn't pull skin of rice pudding but never was too much bother and simple to work on! Been a good read on this thread plenty of good opinions and no slanging for a change hope you find the right machine!

Thank you Boothy . I have to say everyone's been so generous with their time on this. I was worried that I might be ripped a new one when I joined - but have been pleasantly wrong about that xxx

They just be above budget i would say,think first ones were year 2002.. might get one in auction thoe..
are they any good , some here say hard to get parts for and something about bearnings not being up to the same as what is put into case , but like most tractors lots of what you here is from fools that never even seen one , any tractor that we got that had a bad rep worked out good and any we got with good rep was not , must be the luck of the orish

My mtx135 done over 6000hrs now, brakes,and few little things but thats it..neighbours got an mtx120 with other 8000hrs on and never touched it..
