Machine polisher question

Mf390t here. It might have the very slightest dot of rust here and there on the red panels. Nothing worth talking about. Its original red paint and I just want to give it a bit of a brighten.

I was going to buy one of those sealey car polishes and use a compound on it and then polish it.

Can someone tell me what I need to buy in terms of the sand paper for the polisher to work the compound in?

Firstly, don’t use sandpaper.
Use a machine polisher with a rotating mop, they’re not expensive and can be bought from the likes of Screwfix. Avoid the cheapest, as they’ll be utterly gutless. For a cutting compound use Farecla G4 or similar, buy it in litre bottles as a tractors worth of small tubes will soon add up. Avoid T-Cut, as the last stuff I tried wasn’t a patch on the T-Cut of old. Practice on a less visible patch of paint, but you’ll be surprised as how long it takes to cut through the paint layer to the base coat, so don’t be afraid to be quite aggressive until you brighten the paint.
And take a look at YouTube videos, they’ll show you what you need to know about polishing technique. Lastly, be careful with the polisher around decals, as buffing can ruin them in short order.
