Machinery Rental

Evening all,

Just doing a bit of research for an upcoming business and looking for feedback, negative or positive and suggestions on the whole concept.

In today's world Peer to Peer lending is on the up, with sites like AirBnB, Uber Cabs etc so would this work in the farming industry?

My question is simple for the time being; would you rent kit off another farmer or rent your own kit to a farmer when it's not being used provided correct insurances , payment methods and a platform was available?

Please give all the feedback you can, and if possible a reason if you wouldn't use a service like this?

Cheers

apart from the problem of gear being returned in a poor state if someone else wants to use it chances are we would too as most machines here are seasonal and to have spare capacity means you are over geared unless you are a contractor supplying both machine and labour .agree with sleepy on what polonius said to laertes but would always try to help out if a crisis as you never know when its your turn

The trouble with farm machinery is it is very specialist...and very seasonal. Everyone wants it at once, but can't always drive it themselves.

Hence why contractors exist.
