Done 800 tons yday which we had sold, 2 hour round trip, 12 trailers on , my job was manning the weighbridge, 16 ton acre , havent had the samples back yet but the trailers were weighing right, not overly heavy, agrii lab tested it at 34%dm on monday , cobs were really ripe , ours is usually the first to ripen around here, planted about 20th april. lots more to do for us next week. gema and gatsby.

Anyone ever see small deformed looking cobs up at the top of the odd plant in an otherwise very good crop? Up at the tassel.

Yes. I have seen this before. I have never looked for an explanation. I have only ever found it on a few plants so I just thought it was some genetic or developmental issue. All commercially grown forage maize plants are hybrids so the odd weird and wonderful specimen is to be expected.

It was planted early , on boys ground it the right area, it was up to my shorts on jun12, see post 371, harvest date is directly related to sowing dates, but still surprised us though how ripe it was though.Fantastic year for maize earlier on,

I think a lot of them are on tillers.
