They landed last week, got three sets for the same price as two from the tub mixer importer, going to start on Saturday
There is an ad in agricultural trader this time, a guy selling weld on plates to go around the outer edge of the auger in diet feeders £19.50 a metres in pieces about 6 inches long, sounds a small price to pay to save the main wearing part!

Tub mixer auger flight edging in 6mm mild steel £19.50 metre
Looks like ireland is the workshop of the world now!See we do export other things that are useful !
I've also heard good reports about them , even do they have done nothing for me , have to wave the Irish flag when get chance
Where did you get the flights from eventually?
Pics when you get on a bit would be good!!
We welded a 15mm round bar round the outside of the flight on our old one. Definitely worth doing something as long as you are early enough. No point once its worn out and starting to bend/break up.
Wear plates where the blades bolt on would be worth it too.
Hi, no we didn't countersink, maybe should have.
Local blacksmith we got bolts from just had ordinary bolts, so that was what we used.
The countersunk ones on the original were a pain to keep tight so it's not really a concern.
Was going to weld a small strip across the front of the bolts bit haven't done it. Might do it yet, but reckon bolts will last out blades no bother.
Hope you have plenty welding wire in!
I love welding but by the time I'd lined the tub moved the door and done the auger I was welded out!
I know this is from a long time ago.Where did you get the flights from eventually?

that's what I was picturing just cant make my mind up how hard 15mm bar would be to bend, I picture 12mm as easily bending but for some reason 15mm in my mind seems too stiff to bend, porbably best way to weld and bend as you goBut we have found in the past, if you leave it long enough, and tack the end on, the rest works like a handle/leverage.
Would half inch do, 13mm?
I know this is from a long time ago.
how did you find best to weld 15mm round bar on ie did you cut it to short pieces or just weld it and bend it too in short sections? I think 15mm would take a fare bit of bending?
