Massey Ferguson 8s

Heard a 8s was 40k less than a New Holland, that was changing price, trading in an MF, so secondhand figures could’ve distorted the price a bit.

We recently priced MF 8S and JCB from rhe same dealer and JD to replace a jcb 4220 I've now got a JD again.

Dyna 7 is far from sorted. In fact it’s dangerous. and it’s not the tractors only problem.

What exactly is the problem and do you own/drive one and how old is it please?

Think they got the looks right, but as usual mf don't get things right first time, they have a 10 series jd/ Scania trucks ethos, everybody wants one.

I don’t work there anymore but they have 3 and they’re all very very unreliable, generally 1 broken down at any 1 time they’ve all had a gearbox rebuild atleast once

It’s a 2022 which we own. The transmission is very unpredictable.
some time when slowing down for the headland turn, it suddenly takes off
engine revs flat out and then takes time to return to normal engine speed.
It also does this at road junctions which is not very helpful. And we have had a couple of near misses. Including at a pedestrian crossing.
when you use cruise control in the field it hardly ever runs the same speed on two consecutive turns. Anti stall quite often kicks in even when switched off. The other morning when reversing out off the barn, every time you lifted your foot on the clutch pedal the engine revs went to full throttle.
And almost certainly every day at some point all the screens will go off.
You then sit in the field for some time having to reprogram all the settings.

Wrong Speedy. Dyna 7 is ok as a Dyna6 upgrade, Dyna E Power is the one to avoid. Power for power spec for spec the green ones are dearer, blue cheaper.

Thats not the case in our area , The guy above said his dyna 7 was a lot of trouble , I would not know as I have none & will never have any with a gearbox other than a dyna vt

They just keep changing the software. We ended up with the dyna 7 as a replacement for the dyna e which Went back to MF. Dyna vt wasn’t available at the time.

8s was a complete new model. 7s has evolved from 7600 and then 7700 series.

I dont know much about the 8s apart from what I have read on here and other sources, but as a retired MF dealership engineer, I personally would not buy a 'new' model for at least 5 years into production. All manufacturers will boast about how a new machine has been field tested for x number of years, but in reality, the first few years of sales are the 'real' field testing. I would say if you want the best model, buy the last one off the production line rather than the first.

You’re probably not wrong with that. Bit like the 6150R JD when they first came out were well known to be dogs, but now
