Michael Gove and the Conservatives did this.

There are some good crops about. Few and far between, yes, but it is still (just) possible to grow it. And, in mordern parlance, it's incredibly bad for you mentle 'elf.
Entirely down to luck now. I’ve a field where you can see to a line where for some random reason the insect onslaught stopped. It’s a lottery by and large.

We’ve a badger problem here. Tell me what the Conservatives will allow me to do about it. Nothing is the answer. So might as well vote for anybody else. Can’t spread manure in the autumn, can’t apply urea after end of March. Why don’t they come out with it and just say they want to ban farming rather than do it by a thousand cuts?

Plenty of issues elsewhere which are now well on the way to fixing the problem though?

Some of the numbers mentioned are eye watering and having dramatic effects

If you look back at the last 8 years and the changes to legislation, the agricultural support system and the deterioration to our terms of trade during this period there cannot be a worse period in history for agriculture. How farmers can turn around and vote Conservative completely astounds me.

Sometimes it is not who you vote for but who you vote against.

I think its quite a while since a government made such a "Pigs Ear" of everything its done.
Blair brown
strong £ wheat £70 a tonne
foot and mouth
half a million rural protesters in London
iraq war invasion on false pretences 1 million protesters
financial market crash
unregulated immigration which ultimately precipitated brexit

It’s a poor do though when there’s no party to vote “for” only parties to vote against. I’m sick of excuses and platitudes. Sick of being told they’ve got our backs only to be on the receiving end of yet another cost inducing regulation or restriction. It was Theresa May who signed us up to net zero by 2050 and Minette Batters who in true NFU form promised it by 2040. They might well get their wish but will probably bankrupt the country in the process. Well done them.

Thing is, we all know that there is no chance of the Tory incumbant being removed from this area.
