Mis/fueling petrol in diesel

After emptying out a fair few friends & relations vehicles after they have mis/fueled them I'm left with quite a few drums of petroly/diesel mix, just wondering if anyone's been able to find a use for it other than lighting fires .
I did try some in the strimmer but I added oil as if it were straight petrol and I was almost overcome with fumes after a few minutes use! I had to play around with the choke to keep it running, almost completely closed and it had to rev flat out unless it died. I wasn't brave enough to add the mix straight to the tank without oil just in case it seized up😬 could maybe try reducing the oil content from say 50:1 to maybe 80:1 perhaps
Apart from your time it hasn`t cost you anything so personally I`d be VERY reluctant to put it in anything with an engine in it that if it went t*ts up ( straight away or over a period of time due to the wrong fuel) it could actually end up COSTING you money to put things right. Even a heating boiler could cost money to put right if it didn`t like the wrong fuel...
It is very frustrating having a load of expensive fuel "mix" and not being able to put it to profitable use but it could prove very COSTLY trying....

How much of it have you got? Tens of litres? Hundreds of litres?

It's just fuel. As long as it's clean and fresh, it won't do any harm to any machine/vehicle you put it in, provided it's diluted to f*ck with the fuel that the engine is meant to be running on. (i.e. half a litre in a 60 litre fuel tank). I certainly wouldn't be using it "straight" in anything, except a fire.

It would probably be good in a parts washer. Don't run the pump though.
Degreasing with one of those pump up spray bottles would be another good option, provided you don't blow yourself up with the fumes.
Mix it with a bit of waste oil and use it for rust prevention maybe.

Err, sorry to ask the question, but how the sweet Fuch does fuel get mixed in the first place ?
Apart from it being physically impossible to put a diesel nozzle into an unleaded fuel opening, every fuel cap & every nozzle I’ve ever seen ( since about mid 1980’s anyway, when lead was removed from petrol here ) have all been clearly labeled either “diesel” or “unleaded” 🤷‍♂️

People = stupid.

I once worked in a workshop next to a service station, we'd be draining atleast one tank a month. It was almost always someone putting petrol in a diesel.

The worst ones are when the service station attendant is the one that's done it

Been a lifetime ago since I was in the UK, but here, fuel pump nozzles are all colour coded as well as being CLEARLY labeled. Diesel nozzles are always black, with petrol being either green, yellow or red, depending on the grade

Similar here but just wait, things get fuzzy with age.
And to add more to the confusion some pumps now have two colour coded diesel grades along with a high flow truck pump.

Apart from John Deere who recently went through a phase of putting green caps on their diesel tanks!

I put petrol into my diesel van one night - in a rush, card operated pump, wouldn't accept the card at first - when it finally agreed to dispense some fuel I picked up the nearest nozzle without thinking and put it in the tank. What's that smell? Bit petrolly.....Oh bugger - got away with it, only 10 l or so, topped up with diesel.
I had always been dismissive of the idiots that mis-fuel until it happened to me!

Its the same here
The only thing i ever buy at a station is unleaded petrol for the quadbike
About ten yr ago on holiday with caravan i headed for the unleaded pump as usual except i was in a deisel car.
Car stopped about 500 metres down the road on the fort william bypass.
I managed to flag down a passing towtruck who had to call his mate to come for the caravan.
It was full the neck of course for homeward journey.
Cost me about £300
They tried to charge for disposal of 60 litre of petrol too so were told to f off.
Extended our pleasant stay in fort william by about four hours, so not all wasted.

The petrol pump nozzle is smaller than the diesel tank filler hole.

My father used to put petrol in the hilux regularly
Tried to blame me for lack of maintainance when it conked out.
I Took of the filler cap and smelt the petrol.
No apology though!!!!
I took the fuel pipe off the filter , lifted the rear end up with manitou and let it run out into a bucket.
