New Farm Hoover.

Dyson do a good job but are built to break: flimsy clips, rollers on the head that stop turning etc. Parts are very expensive too. Henry is the boy but make sure you get the rotating brush for dog hairs and a box of bags. I hate sticking my hands in a bagless to pull a ball of dog hair and sweet wrappers out...... what a fecking stupid idea!!
My old dyson animal must be 12 years old and gets thrown about yet nothing has broken! Think you need to send Mrs Milkloss on an operators course!

I was never a fan of cordless, but the new Dysons are pretty good. You need to rethink your cleaning and do bits at a time. If you try and the whole house it will run out of power, unless you live in a very small one.

Had a Hoover - pet model, it was ok....
Got a Henry bagless, nice machine but not the quickest.
Dyson battery job was incredible but after 10-12 months battery now lasts 5-10 seconds.

She now has a Shark Liftaway, animal of a machine, LED light and does all that’s needed, still have the Henry for the log burner/coal fires with the nozzle attachment but Shark for bulk hoovering.

Hey!
This is all really interesting and very helpful.
It's great to get some really varied views and honesty for real tough farm conditions. Some good independent users with no bias...
Not too sure about the Big Brute thingy. I would like the carpets to still be in place!!
Shark sounds impressive.
Thanks,they are all helpful comments.
keep them coming...

A late post but...

I was in Lidl yesterday with Herself and picked up their flyer as I went out. They have the small rechargable machine available again next week (I think it is) for the absolute bargain price of 50 quid. We bought one 2-3 months ago and really rate it quite highly. The same model under a different name is available in online stores at around £65.

The Lidl model stacks up well against the rechargeable Dyson in reviews. You can buy additional batteries and filters for it which was a pleasant surprise for a cheapie.

Anything from Aldi/Lidl. Fraction of the price of mainstream brands and usually work well. Come with 3 yrs warranty usually too... Got a little 50 quid rechargeable from Lidl a few months ago which is great, as good as stuff 3x the price!

Herself got a mains Shark last week and is impressed with the crap it's collecting, AFTER she has been over with the old Dyson. I have suggested getting a complete brush and filter set for the old girl, as you can only clean the filters so much. Might well get the permission now!!

The Shark vacuum has a tiny collection box though, and the ergonomics are poor, with all the weight high up.

Later.... The Shark has been given a ? by Herself and it's going back. Suck and sweeps well, but horrid to use...
