Engine oil and filter 250 hrs,
Transmission oil and all filters 1000 hrs.
Air and cab filters every 1000 hrs. or as needed.
all tractor grease nipples every 50 hrs.
has been said before oil/filters are expensive, but in the big picture of things a bargain compared to opening up an engine or transmission.
I'm not going to change now .
as for 700 hrs service intervals, that's just crazy, even with modern oils.
who would want a used tractor that was only serviced every 700 hrs? I would not.:mad:

Nothing more frustrating than trying to hitch up something and the fudging lift rods are seized solid and won't turn through a want of one shot of grease!

I recall working on a farm when I was a student when the 20 series jd was current. Our 7820 front suspension packed up so they (very large jd dealer) took it in and let us have a hire tractor to keep us going. We tried hitching it up but both sides were seized up while set quite short so we couldn’t get under the bed tiller (while in the field too!). Highly frustrating.

My late father drove tractors from the fifty's on, working on farms, one farm they had new tractors every spring, a grey Ferguson and Fordson Major. He was taught to check oils /tyre pressure daily . Grease daily, he never changed that system when he started farming himself in 1962, he taught me that checking everything saves a fortune in the long term,
God help me if something went wrong through the day that should have been checked before starting tractor or any machines in the morning.
I still today never start anything with an engine without checking oils/water etc etc. my vehicles or anyone else's I'm driving .
It's not surprising some people have major breakdowns and blame machines, not themselves for not doing a daily check, only takes minutes 🙄.

I use to ask all my drivers to daily checks and fill in a log sheet.
If I suspected it was not being done properly ,I would pull the dip stick out the engine , hydraulic systems or back end ,put them in the pickup most of drivers would come and ask for them and get a ✅
If a driver would start to drive off would get a phone call or a knock on the door and I would ask if they had forgotten anything before they set off on their travels followed by 🤬.

I still see 300hrs as stretching it.
Nephew once worked for a gang that changed tractor every yr, and they never touched it unless a light came on.
Wouldn't be happy being second owner.
There's a lad up the road keeps everything mint, doesn't do an awful lot but tractors kept like new, tidy & clean, yard the same.

Dealer was out either doing warranty work or maybe fitting a loader, tractor on 6/700 hrs & still the original painted engine oil filter on it.

So you go buy his mint trade-in & think you've got a great well looked after tractor...
