Nitrogen in seed bed

130units in the seed bed yesterday, drilled a week ago. Light rain now and for the week ahead, need it to fly out the ground. Would normally split dose but too late for that now in my opinion, get it on and get it growing.

I've never used more than 90 units on spring barley. Am I too shy?

120 units for winter wheat or barley.

3cwt to acre of 27 and 9S. Will top up with another cwt of N if all looking good weather wise and not in drought. Have seen the benefits of pre sowing application in these last few years with dry spells. A neighbour who goes when tramlines visible was poorer looking on a couple of occasions.

48 Units in seed bed here. Another 54 when tramlines visible.

Put it all in the seedbed, especially if urea.

I have always found pushing the N up has been richly rewarded on my ground with spring barely. It is, of course, always a gamble.

If drilled early the half and half (before April )
if drilled later then all in seed bed
back in the day 50 yers ago combine drilled

Bit the bullet put 120 units on seed bed of newly sown sp barley. Sown lovely. Hope it works

What if you get a lot of rain like some parts have been in the last 24 hrs, how much goes down the drain before the seed has even got any roots out?
