Bought an old Opico 390 drier and was wondering if anyone here has ever ran one, it’s 9 ton model I believe. Was just wondering around tractor to run it does it matter HP, smallest here is 100hp. Anything to watch out for etc with it, tbh never ran a drier before 😂

100Hp should be fine, makes sure tractor cooling system is all good, fines from the dryer choke everything
Burner jets can be a bit temperamental, the alloy mesh on the bottom cone can wear out resulting in grain spills - i've changed a few, bottom auger bearing can need changed fairly regularly if its used/left outside, bottom auger bearing mounting plate/ part of the lower grain pan can also be quite thin after much use
Usual belts & Auger wear
American design so they are a basic & simple machine, there will be a dealer nearby, have them service it annually, it wont be expensive & they'll identify any issues before you actually need it.
The control panel will be the most technical bit.
Don't overfill it with 30% Wet grain & certainly not with beans or you'll be shovelling for a while.
Empty & blow it down every year with an airline when finished & try to store it in the dry, keep water well away from it.

Have the same model, man I bought it off said a 135 would run it. I’ve mine on a 120ish on pretty sure it runs on 1000rpm at tick over.

Hasn’t happened touch wood but if it goes on fire he said turn burners off and leave fans and augers running

Had 2, good dryers db1210 used to run them in 1000pto, maxxum 5130 on now.
I changed the bottom bearing to a timmk one, seems to have lasted. Pretty bulletproof machines.
