Right the spec plate is 6 3544 so it has an extra 4 at the end so so could be like Pete said the add ons might not fit, I've been retired a few years and been there and fitted odd engines out of other plant, as this one drives a hydraulic pump may not be a big deal in fitting a similar engine but have had some bit of work, once found needed to change the flywheel, well one was a five stud fitting and other was six, luckily just by machining the flywheel everything else worked.

What is problem with existing engine?
Why not fix it ??
The only way I would fit s/h engine is to see it start up from cold , then see what it is like when hot

Been looked after very well, engine oil been changed even with little use, but something caused the crank to majorly seize, bores still good Ive been told.

Too many oil changes can be as bad as too few. Every time the engine is started after an oil and filter change, just think how many times the crank turns before the oil pressure light goes out. At 750 rpm idle speed, the crank turns 62.5 times in 5 secs.

Its a must not leave draining over night with the Ford ranger? pickups friend done that and wouldn't pick up the oil, changed the pump and turbo took it for a run and bang, the old Perkins of that age are bullet proof and just keep on going so was surprised this let go somewhere, I haven't seen it to give an idea of what the cause was.

I’ll attach the pictures I have of the engine if it’s of any use

Thanks for the help, I have passed the info on and is up to them, at one time I would have fitted the best could get and made up adapter to convert what was nessarsery to fit the pump unit back on. I just find today people just want it easy to fit and go.

The .4 is a later version, little bit improved and a little more power
I think you said it's in a 360deg digger so will be a tin sump, combine engine would be a straight swap, tractor engine would be a different sump
