1 around here that the dealer was out on hire with had similar results plenty bare patched i wouldn’t touch 1
There 20k cheaper for a reason. Both these guys are contractors too. The 4m one had oil coming out of side of bed after 2nd season. It was taken away by Pottinger to be repaired autumn 23. He said he hoped it didn't come back. Not sure if he has it back or not

Both of them problems with bare patches too. Problem with grain and fertiliser in same pipe can't tell when they stop metering seed.

Which they seem to do randomly.

Hope it's better than 2 pottingers that have been sold round here!🤦

There both wanting to put them back. The sowings interesting.
There’s are reason why Lemken have 85% of the Scottish Market & are the most expensive.
Same old story of supply & demand.

Amazone seem to have been the biggest losers north of the border. They probably had 75% of market 15-20 years ago but like Keenan with their paddle mixers were adamant their single disc coulter was better than new comers with their double ones until it was too late and buyers went elsewhere.

Sellars always seem to have 4 or 5 used amazone’s in stock.

What is the problem with them? Control issues or seed placement?

It's something to do with metering on/off. Aren't like our old drills where you can see the drive wheel turning from seat!

They were thinking it was static from side pipes building up and damaging control boxes. Remember it was a issue with DF2 accord. Had steel wire wrapped round them. So they were replacing plastic pipes with stainless steel.

They just don't meter seed from one end to the other. They also suspected it could be loss of pressure in seed tank. It's meant to be pressurised.

Worrying thing is they haven't identified 100% what issue is.

Both are owner driven, and good operators.

Pretty sure @JCfarmer has one and is happy with it. Maybe don't like NE Scotland!

Lemken has the tidiest briar. Looks great when first through the ground. Thing is it only looks like this for a few weeks until rows fill in.

Think I'd stick with Amazone if changed ours. Never really let me down so far....🙏🤞

Yeh spoke to one of the contractors near you and he seemed happy they had sorted it. There are two over my way that haven’t had the same issue. They have changed to a steel side pipe now to get them to earth better. Soon find out!

I would still happily have an amazone if it would have buried seed on the clay. Think it was the wedge ring roller that was the problem.
Had three over the years. Never so much as a weeping seal on the power harrows in all that time and didn’t drag stones or set slip clutch off as readily as Lemken does.

That’s because of the dealer tie ups. Local big dealer used to sell Amazone and Lemken:
Lost Amazone due to claas/lemken tie up. Now see more lemkens around

8 used amazone combis plus a power harrow on their website just now!!

Lemken a very good drill but I think a lot of it north of the border is now following the crowd.
Amazone with double disc should be equally as good I’d have thought.
