Hi all don't know if this is the right place to post but after some advice ?.

Between Land that I own 50 acres and some rental off a Local Authority 25 acres the Local Autority has insisted of having a policy of £5.5 million Public Liabilty indemnity cover for their land , there are no buildings on the land and we only want to use it for approx 50 sheep on grass keep so all we would need is the Public Liabiliy if that's available.

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

I've just had a quote from the NFU mutual for public and employers liability for a business that owns 70 acres of land that is just let out on annual grazing licences. No buildings, no farmyard, just land. Quote was £257, which I thought was very reasonable, other quotes were twice as expensive.

I have to sort PL insurance on some land on behalf of a Trust (about 25ac), that we rent. Roadside trees, adjacent footpath, etc.
That is along side our farm policy, NFUM.
Similar premium to yours.

It might seem backward but virtually all farm businesses will have this to protect them from unforeseen circumstances. It's considered par for the course and many other businesses will have this.
