Cheers for the replys guys
I wouldnt be too keen to bring inside as room is tight at home, and i was hoping to see how the outdoor lambing goes with a view to moving to that system in future if all pans out ok.

Romney rob
Yeh it has been grazed before with cattle and sheep. But mainly sheep last few years. Some of it is very nice ground and only a two year old grass lay, with good clover. But some of the other paddocks I'm guessing 10 yr old plus with rushes in between. And in the winter, bits you can get a quad stuck !
Had a look on your web page. Very interesting if you don't mind I'll give you a call soon ?

DCB how are you getting on with your Romney blackie cross.? Do you lamb them outside ?

How do you get on with your lambs? Sell them deadweight, and are they pure romneys or cross?
Sorry for all the questions but just trying to do my homework !!!

So why keep Romneys if the wool is such a nuisance? :scratchhead:
When we changed breeds 3 years ago the decision was to either have sheep with no wool or enough wool to make it pay. Decided on Romneys mainly because of the work that has been done on the breed in NZ, more Romneys there than there are sheep in the UK!

Wools only a pain if you don't manage it right, I quite like my wool cheque!

Sounds like it's working for you. I must admit I don't mind shearing too much. So shearing twice a year wouldn't be a problem.

And if I am going to change one of the benefits would be an increased wool cheque.
